A journey like no other

1st Day: from Santiago de Compostela Airport to A Guarda

Free arrival in Santiago de Compostela. Transfer to A Guarda. Let's take 'The Credential'. Overnight stay.

2nd Day: from A Guarda to Baiona (30.7 km)

Breakfast. All along the route you will leave the Atlantic Ocean on your left. It is a stage with very few differences in height and follows the Costa line. Step by step you will reach the historic Monastery of Santa Marta de Oia. You will leave the fishing village of Oia behind and walk along the cliffs until you reach the Cabo Silleiro Lighthouse, the main orientation point for ships sailing along the Ría de Vigo. You will go up to Baredo and a few kilometers later you will arrive at the Castle of Monte Real, now the Baiona National Tourism Parador. After the Castle you will find Baiona, the first port in Europe that received the news of the Discovery of America, in 1492. Overnight stay.

3rd Day: from Baiona to Vigo (27.1 km)

Breakfast. The Ría de Vigo begins in Baiona and is protected by the Cíes Islands or Illas Cíes, these are the heart of the Atlantic Islands National Park. You will walk from this wonderful place and leave the beautiful and historic O Pombal fountain. You will cross two Romanesque bridges, one over the Groba river and the other over A Ramallosa. In the latter city begins the Foz del Río Miño, a land of great ecological wealth. In Nigrán you will find the Tempio Votivo do Mar. Step by step you will reach Vigo, also known as the city of Olívica. Overnight stay.

4th Day: from Vigo to Pontevedra (35.6 km)

Breakfast. The walk on the bank of the Lagares river will take you to As Travesas. You will reach the Castle of San Sebastián and go down to the Barrio de O Berbés, located very close to A Pedra, an area known for its restaurants and Ostras de la Ría (oyster) tasting. You will leave Vigo through the Teis district and continue along the Camino until you reach Redondela where the Portuguese route along the coast meets the Portuguese route through the interior. After passing through its historic center you will go up to Cesantes. From Cesantes you will go down to Arcade. You will cross the historic medieval bridge of Ponte Sampaio over the Verdugo River. You will go up to Vilaboa and leave the Santa Marta chapel. Step by step you will reach the city of Pontevedra. Overnight stay.

5th Day: from Pontevedra to Caldas de Reis (21.1 km)

Breakfast. From Pontevedra we continue north and take a detour to enter the woods of Reiriz and Lombo da Maceira. In San Mauro the Camino heads to Ponte Balbón and from there to O Ameal. Finally it heads towards Tivo and, now already very close to the banks of the Urnia, half of the stage reaches Caldas de Reis. Overnight stay.

6th Day: from Caldas de Reis to Padrón (18.6 km)

Breakfast. The Portuguese route moves away from Caldas de Reis to enter the Bermaña valley and its centuries-old forests. A gentle climb begins towards Santa Mariña de Carracedo and then continues in the direction of Casal de Eirigo and O Pino across Mount Albor. After passing the Roman bridge of Cesures, the Camino enters the lands of A Coruña continuing parallel to the N-550 until reaching Padrón, a place with a strong Jacobean tradition. According to tradition, the body of Santiago arrived in the nearby village and port of Iria Flavia with his disciples. Overnight stay.

7th Day: from Padrón to Santiago de Compostela (24.3 km)

Breakfast. The day has come. The last stage of the Camino de Santiago begins with which you were able to admire the countless wonders resulting from centuries of history. Departing from A Escravitude and past the sanctuary, after a stretch of woods, the Camino crosses the railway tracks in the town of A Angueira de Suso and begins its descent towards Santiago. In Santiago the Portuguese itinerary enters the monumental area from Porta Faxeira and heads towards the Praterias façade of the Compostela cathedral. Already inside the Cathedral you need to go to the crypt where Santiago's tomb is located and follow one of the most significant traditions... embracing the Saint. Overnight stay.

8th Day: Santiago de Compostela

Breakfast. Santiago is a wonderful and lively city where there is the possibility of adding other days. Our journey ends with the hope that this experience has given you unique and inimitable emotions for the mind and body. Happy return…

Upon arrival you will be given the Credential. Card that, along the Camino, you will have to have stamped (at least 2 times a day) in any bar, shop, authorized accommodation... you will find them everywhere. The Credential will then be presented to the Pilgrim Office of Santiago de Compostela to demonstrate that you have traveled at least the last 100 km and obtain… The Compostela. Curious certificate written in Latin that will be a nice souvenir of your trip.
